new years resolution?

ok i can go on for a while saying stuff about how christmas has become nothing but a hallmark holiday to a lot of people.. but, christmas is over. so it doesn't matter anymore. new years resolutions, yea! it's that time of the year already. EVERY SINGLE YEAR i bet you've made some type of resolution to do this or that.. become a better person.. spend more time with family.. lose weight. don't know, honestly don't really care that much because fact of the matter is that we FAIL to keep our resolutions. why? well lets see.. we stop caring, we give up, the value of the resolution just becomes less important becauseee.... we start cutting corners, we start compromising.. until there is NOTHING left to compromise!!

so this new year do everyone a favor and DON'T fool yourself into making a resolution UNLESS you REALLY think you're gonna keep it. now a couple of things you can do to follow through with this resolution of yours... 1. WRITE it down somewhere you won't lose it - this way you can always look back to it, and it can look back at you. 2 MAKE SURE you know exactly what you want to do or accomplish. 3. BE ACCOUNTABLE to another person that might be able to help you out with that resolution 4. BE REASONABLE with your resolution - don't make it something like "going to build a car out of scrap" or "gonna lose 200 lbs with jenny craig" or "i'm always going to put the toilet seat down" - expectations are great, but lets build within our limits and work with what we have

maybe a more general one might be to make things about other people a little more than we make things about us - place others before yourself, quite a rewarding experience. keep it real.

wasted

technology is really destroying us. what did people do without tv, the internet, cell phones that do everything? im not even going to talk about the amount of time it wastes, but lets dwell for a second on how communication has dwindled down to a mere message exchanged in text on a phone. im a big texter so i've fallen into this degradation as well. interpersonal communication is the most sincere way of communicating - in person, in the flesh. of course that's not always possible so we introduce to you.. the phone. also a viable alternative. but when we went from the phone to AIM/AOL/ICQ/50 others .. to email ... to texting .. to what's next? its RIDICULOUS HOW LITTLE WE CARE to spend quality time interacting. you know what? that's why society is going in a downward spiral - we detach feeling and emotion from other people when we do not give them the time of day. the QUALITY of communication is just not the same. if we could find a way to get a message across to someone with the LEAST amount of effort possible - thats what we would do. there's no teleology here where the ends might justify the means. the MEANS are what we really care about.

the life we live is governed by shortcuts. we find new ones everyday but i'll tell ya one thing.. i'd take a phone call over a text message any day. see the bigger picture yet?

LIVE

i wanted a place where i could not only post things, but maybe even moreso, get feedback from YOU. and you.. and you. the blogs are open-posting, which means anybody can read them, and anyone can comment. i want to hear ideas created .. use it as a place to do that, also use it as a place to unbottle your thoughts that rattle your mind.. anything goes. opinions, facts, theories, no limits!! Let's see how far this goes, its up to you.. take a few seconds and write write write. Well with that, we go LIVE

reconnect

ever feel so disconnected from reality that the days zoom by without rhyme, reason, or even meaning? we become so numb to the fact that there is an actual world around us that exists outside the bubble that we place ourselves in. this bubble is real and unreal at the same time. it is real because it exists to us, and everyone within our bubble. it us unreal because it leaves less than a spec in the timeline of our world.

but i mean there has to be a way past that doesn't there? there has gotta be someway to relearn things, relive things.. reconnect with things and people really. people matter, ideas matter.. why not expand our bubble a little bit? so how do we do that? how do we going from feeling disconnected from everything to connected with anything? well, pressed for time, but i suppose i can leave it at "live in the moment."

just for right now i guess...

it's a start

i was going to bed.. well, i was actually in bed already. and then it dawned on me.. why not create a blog? ok, so maybe its not the most creative idea in the world.. and yea it has hit me before. but i fought it before with the whole "why do people need to read what i think?" question. and i'm still not sure, but hey how do you figure out the answer to a question without testing it out right? going to seek out those answers. so what do i hope to accomplish here?

well i write.. just for fun, yea i know - what a concept. im not the biggest talker.. well ok sometimes. but for the most part.. i dont like things held up inside me. not a healthy way to go. an idea pops in your head - go ahead, i invite you to write. its liberating really and i know it might sound a little "blah". But it's really not - give it a shot, just once or twice. write for no reason at all.. just the thoughts in your head

and you will give way to ideas that you never knew you had

thoughts you never thought were yours

maybe they're still not...
